Féile FM, the station of Féile an Phobail, first hit the airwaves in 1996 with a restricted licence, broadcasting to the West Belfast area during February/March and July/August. The station provided Open College Network (OCN) accredited training in radio and production skills and recording space for local artists, poets, storytellers and community-based projects.

In 2004 Féile FM started to broadcast online, allowing the station and its host community to develop links with other communities throughout the world.

In October 2005 Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, in a clear vote of confidence, awarded Féile FM a full-time Community Radio Licence. This was also recognition of the relationships the station had built over the years with statutory and non-statutory organisations, community groups, government departments and the education sector.

The full-time licence has given Féile FM an opportunity to develop its work as one of the most successful community development participation projects in the North of Ireland. Tune in at the Féile FM website!
