Draíocht short story competition winners… (18/11/2009)

Once again there was an overwhelming response to the annual Draíocht short-story competition. Contributors were free to write either around the theme of Halloween, or from suggested opening lines or a subject of their choice. Many of the stories were of an exceptionally high standard and made the task of the judges both difficult but a great pleasure. We had 160 entries from a total of eight schools: De La Salle College, Royal Belfast Academical Institution, St Mary’s CBGS, Coláiste Feirste, Corpus Christi College, St Roses High School, St Louise’s Comprehensive College and Glen Road CBS.

There were two age categories: stories by those aged between 11 and 13 years; and those aged between 14 and 16 years. And here are the winners!

FIRST – Georgia Ramm, aged 13, from RBAI [Inst], for ‘Forget Me Not’
