Laugh At The Bank Comedy Festival (29/04/2009)
Féile an Phobail today announced Belfast’s first dedicated Weekend Comedy Festival which will take place over the May Bank Holiday weekend (22 – 24). Belfast already has a thriving comedy scene, and also a vibrant festival scene, so Féile thought it was time to give Belfast the dedicated comedy festival they would clearly love and deserve. The festival runs over three days and three nights, culminating with top notch headline acts each night in the Bank Square Marquee. Throughout the day the ‘side kicks’ line up will bring fun and frolics to the streets…
Sean Paul O’Hare, Director of Féile an Phobail says “The establishment of a weekend comedy festival marks a real milestone for the city, and what it has to offer local people and tourists alike. We envisage this festival growing from strength to strength, with the potential for holding its own amongst the comedy festival greats of Edinburgh, Montreal and of course, Kilkenny, closer to home. Féile an Phobail, the West Belfast Festival has a 21 year tradition of bringing great festivals to the community, and is proud to deliver Belfast’s first weekend comedy festival. Now, as ever, we hold dear our commitment to bring high quality acts to the local community at affordable and accessible prices. On a separate issue we would like to remind the community that now is the time to get your community group involved in August Féile line up, which is shaping up to bigger and better than ever.”
